This O.S. map published around 1901 shows the "Penarth Flats", subtitled "mud" and not Cardiff Bay! No map I've seen until the 1990's provides reference to Cardiff Bay, however, sometimes the flats are incorrectly named the Cardiff flats! The key features of the facilities of the Penarth Dock and Ely Tidal Harbour developed to the survey date for this map are described in the text back on the main page. [010]
