Volume Two - The Era of Optimism, Investment & Development - The gridiron and slipway of the Penarth Shipbuilding & Ship Repairing Co. . . .

The 29th 'Report and Statement of Accounts' presented at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders held in February 1907. The registered office was at 4 Dock Chambers, Bute Dock, Cardiff at that date.

After 1910, the registered office for the newly named Penarth Pontoon and Slipway Company was at the headquarters at the head of Penarth Dock.

The gridiron no longer being of significance to the company operations, reference to it was dropped from the company name but they retained the slipway reference for some years longer. Additionally, ship-building had been removed from the menu and their specialist subject became ship-repair upon the pontoon.

Gradually the slipway fell into disuse and was abandoned in the 1920's in favour of the pontoon with its conveniently adjacent modern engineering works.
