A longitudinal section of the general arrangement drawing extracted from the Newcastle Archive showing the "Wall", the boiler house and the cross-section through the pontoon floatation chambers. The keel blocks are shown and at each end of the wall is a steam driven capstan for warping the ship i.e. plain English for adjustment of the ship's position on the dock lengthwise. The high-level side shores used to steady the ship, are indicated as squares just below the walkway and the position of the electric lights illuminate us all!
