End elevation of Penarth pontoon

The end elevation drawings from the article in the Engineer published on 24th September 1909. The "L" shaped configuration of the pontoon and "wall" is clear as is the booms which are fixed within slots in the masonry of the quay wall to permit the pontoon to be raised and lowered in the dock. Also, the keel shores may be seen; these are the angular blocks each side of the line of keel blocks which can be raised to support the lower hull of the ship. [015] [016]
