map of c.1912 showing the revised western quay wall, the engineering works and the pontoon location

A later map of c.1912 showing the revised western quay wall, the engineering works and the pontoon location. Note the map refers to the "Penarth Flats" and not to Cardiff Bay as they call it today. There was a subway under the mouth of the River Ely opened in 1900 to allow workers to walk through from Ferry Road and to and from the Ely Tidal Harbour. [068]
