A link to a You Tube film clip of men from the United States Navy, 6th Beach Battalion loading barrels aboard an unnamed LST at Penarth Dock. The clip was published on the 18th April 1944, has no sound and is 2 minutes 40 seconds in length. [383] Look out for the barrage balloon flying nearby the dock - I think its actually above Plassey Square!

In December 2015 a gentleman named Jim Dearden kindly emailed:- 'Hello David. I didn't work in the docks but was a member of the crew of LST 371 and joined the ship during the change over from the American navy to the British navy (c. Nov 1944). Except for home leave I lived aboard during the refit in Penarth Dock. However, if you google LST 371 you will find photographs and a record about the ship. Good luck in your research and I regret not to be of more help but don't hesitate to contact me if you wish. Regards and best wishes Jim.'
