1943-1944 - Two views of the Penarth Dock.
In the upper image, I'm not sure from what vantage point the photograph was taken ; maybe it was through an on-board gun emplacement slit. All educated alternative ideas or explanations are very welcome!
In the lower photograph, a large vessel is moored up on the northern quay whilst another is moored against one of the disused stone piers of a former coal tip. Across the dock are moored abreast numerous LST's.
The original photographs are held at the archive of the National Museum of Wales. [Museum item number : 1999.169/19 & 20] [629] [20180402] The lower image has been colourised.
