Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage and legacy

Volume Four - An Era of Change, Uncertainty, Depression & War - Activity at the dock during World War II . . .

1943-4 - A photograph of LST US-262 at anchor apparently in contact with the stern of freighter at Penarth Dock.

1943-1944 - Another photograph featuring LST US-262 at anchor apparently in contact with the stern of a freighter at Penarth Dock. I am unable to comprehend what is happening here or understand what the event could be. Educated ideas/explanations will be very welcome!

The original photograph is held at the archive of the National Museum of Wales. [Museum item number : 1999.169/28] [629] [20180405] The lower image has been colourised.
