HMS Amberley Castle - Pennant number K386 she was built in 1943-44 by S. P. Austin & Son of Wear Dock, Sunderland and was originally launched as a patrol frigate for the British Navy being of 1,405 Gross Register Tons. The following year she was placed in reserve at Portsmouth and from there moved to Penarth Dock as part of the reserve fleet in the years 1953 until 1957. Unfortunately there does not appear to be a photograph of her at Penarth. She was subsequently converted to a weather ship and renamed the 'Weather Advisor' during 1960. Eventually in 1976 she was upgraded and renamed the 'Admiral Fitzroy'. Her fate after that date is not known. [202] |
