Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .
Volume Four - An Era of Change, Uncertainty, Depression & War - 1950 to the early 1960's . . .
A view of the docks early in 1944, when for a time Penarth became known as "American Town". Quonset prefabricated huts have been erected as workshops etc. on the north side of dock in support the Armada of LST's stationed at the dock. In the distance a bucket dredger works away at keeping the shipping lanes open to Cardiff Docks - its just another working day at the docks for many! The lower image has been colourised. [061]
