Fulham IX on Penarth pontoon.
'Fulham IX' on the pontoon 29th June 1958 with the vessel, 'GWR No.1' in the foreground. The vessel was built across at the Chas. Hill yard in Bristol with her sister, predictably, and highly imaginatively, the 'GWR No.2'! Both were of 822 tons gross delivered in 1933 to the GWR.

Fulham IX - under repair on the Penarth pontoon.
Obviously, prior to 1974 and the Health & Safety at Work Act. You would have to seriously question these working practices today. A tall wooden ladder appears to be leaning precariously against a scaffold board slung from the deck of the ship and leaning against one of the side shores - probably for painting the bow after repairs. [002] This enlargement has been colourised.
