Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Five - The Age of Decline & Crass Stupidity - What happened after the docks closed? . . .

mid-1960's - 1976 - A view of the end of the dock and the basin during the period mid-1960's when the swing bridge was removed and the lock was filled in, complete with roadway, which cut off the dock from the sea and when the red brick entrance to the subway was demolished and the subway excavated during 1976. Note the semi-circular, black, corrugated-iron, Quonson huts adjacent to the lock between the dock and basin, these being a leftover of the American presence at Penarth Dock in the run up to the D-Day landings.
