Penarth Dock - an aerial view - July 1984
An aerial view taken on the 10th July 1984 showing the engineering works is still intact. In the foreground is the River Ely with its first meander dammed and filled-in with household waste. The new man-made path for the river is the straight cut which continues bottom right of the image. Many thanks to Penarth Framing Services [113] for the use of this image.

Penarth Dock - c.1950
The lower image [001] is included for comparison. It was taken in 1949 or 1950 (witness the 'Passat' and 'Pamir' in dock) and has been shown earlier. Whilst it is an aerial view from a slightly different angle, it is easy to understand the extent of "destruction" and the scale of the household waste sites in proximity to the river.
