The plan of Penarth Dock and the meandering route of the River Ely
The plan of Penarth Dock and the meandering route of the River Ely, etc. from the Glamorgan Archives, Cardiff which appears to indicate the pontoon excavated from the dam which previously covered all but the last 20 feet of the pontoon. The Archive does not provide any further information regarding the purpose of the plan. There is no title block and it appears to have been ripped apart, hence, there is no indication of its date of origin or the initiator of the plan. [599]  Archive ref : DX683/7/7 [20171011 ]

A review of the aerial views kindly lent by Mr. Stuart Jones, the Penarth Marina Manager, during March 2024, (see Aerial Views - 1946 to 1981 . . . , I have been able to date the works and plan precisely. Julie and myself left Penarth Dock Engineering Company at the end of 1970, married and moved to Yorkshire. To our best recollection, there was no work being undertaken to recover the pontoon from under the dam at that time. The date of the aerial photograph is 6th July 1971, therefore, the works and subsequent drawing above relate to the partial recovery of the pontoon between those dates. [1292]
