Volume Six - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - Select Aspects - Trade at Penarth - 1938 - 1949 . . . The preceding graphs provide an indication of the trade at the Penarth Dock and Tidal Harbour in the period 1938 to 1949. The category, 'other imports,' included iron ore, timber and deals, general merchandise and ballast. 'Other exports' included iron, steel rails and ironwork, oil, general merchandise and ballast. Later in the handbook, a section covering imports and exports provides statistics for the years 1930 to 1949 and shows the downward trend in totals during the period when the docks were once open, then closed in 1936, open again in 1939 and closed for imports and exports in 1947.
The book makes for interesting reading and provides a detailed insight into activity at all the South Wales Ports. |
