1913 - A section of the Taff Vale Railway drawing entitled 'New Hydraulic Accumulator between Nos. 4 and 5 Tips.' Below someone has written in pencil : 'Estimated cost of £370 - 0 - 0d.' Below the accumulator a label indicates the site of the 'Urinal & Latrine.' (that name fits well to a firm of Solicitors I once had the misfortune to deal with!)
The hydraulic accumulator contract was awarded by the T.V.R. to Fielding & Platt Limited of Gloucester and it was commissioned during 1914. It was equipped with a ram of 1ft. - 10in. diameter x 26 ft. stroke and was given the local name of No. 5.
The original of this drawing is held at the archive of the National Museum of Wales. [Museum item number : 88.88I/13] [629] [20180516]
