1891 - Barry and Cadoxton Local Board -  Monthly Meeting at Cadoxton - Sewage Extension Contract Let - The next business was to receive tenders for the construction of drainage work between Holton and the upper portion of Cadoxton — Mr. John Robinson, who, with Mr. George Thomas and the Chairman, had been appointed to go through tne tenders, said the following had been received : -

He said that the present contractor. Mr. Parke, seemed to be the highest in the tunnelling and deep cutting rock work. He recommended, however, that no tender should be accepted until the quantities had been gone through, as there might be clerical errors. He himself had just casuallv found a clerical error of £137 odd in the tender of Mr. Ince.

Mr. George Thomas considered that the matter ought to be settled that day as it was one of great urgency.

The Chairman announced that the Board had had the consent of the Local Government Board to borrow the monev, consequently the work could be commenced at once.

Mr. Barstow proposed that the tender of Mr. Rutter should be accepted. — Mr. W. Thomas (Cadoxton) seconded, and it was unanimously agreed to.

The Surveyor presented a schedule of lands through which the drainage work would run. The customary notices were ordered to be served. - The South Wales Star [159] [361] 5th June 1891.
