Baths and Esplanade Hotel from the Pier, Penarth
Baths and Esplanade Hotel from the Pier, Penarth - Another fine postcard from my Penarth Dock Collection. dated 4th January 1919. 'Dear Mother. We leave here for Brest, France, it came suddenly. I will write when I get to Brest. With love to all. Goodbye. Yours forever, Morrit.' Intriguing indeed! [000] [001]

Pier from the Baths, Penarth
A postcard showing the pier as originally constructed. I believe the turnstiles and gateposts were retained in the redevelopment of the 1930's. A Barry Railway paddle steamer is departing, no doubt next stop at Barry. It is probably the 'Barry' built in 1907 by John Brown at Clydebank. Following much argument and litigation between the Campbell's and the Barry Company, and upon the demise of the later, it was incorporated into the White Funnel Fleet having been renamed 'Waverley', [000] [001]
