The entrance to Penarth Pier c.1908
The Pier entrance from the baths, Penarth - c.1908
A view dating from c.1908 showing the pier as originally constructed with a shop for ices and Fry's chocolate on the right. On the left of the pier entrance is F. Mathews emporium - I can't make out what it is they sell but about 50 years later I used to buy my Jubbly there after a swimming session at the baths. [000] [001] [328]

Penarth Pier - c.1908
You can always tell when its about to rain on Penarth pier, How? Everyone walks in the same direction! A fine view of the Edwardian elite taking the air as they stroll back to their waiting cabs or into the warmth of the Esplanade Hotel for a fine tea and cream cakes. The lower image has been colourised. [000] [001] [328]
