Esplanade and New Pier Pavillion, Penarth
'The Esplanade and New Pier Pavilion, Penarth' - An early 1930's view of the new pavilion opened in May 1929. It was built of ferro-concrete by contractors Messrs E. Smith of Cardiff and was said to be modeled upon a beached whale amongst other things! Another period view saved for posterity in the Penarth Dock Collection. The detail of the Esplanade Hotel is also shown but the ground floor bar was less than inviting by the time I started drinking in the mid-1960's. [001]

Esplanade and New Pier Pavillion, Penarth
A fine view of the pier pavilion with a young man posing, probably to the extreme annoyance of the photographer! I place this postcard image to the 1930's or 1940's. Another period postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
