Windsor Road, Penarth
Windsor Road, Penarth
'Penarth, Windsor Road' a postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection posted in September 1928 to an address on the Cote du Nord, France. Coal from the port of Penarth was a regularly exported to customers at the Atlantic ports of France and Spain. The lower image has been colourised. [001]

St. Augustines Church, Penarth
'St. Augustines Church, Penarth' was rebuilt the year following the opening of the dock in 1866. This view is a postcard stamped in 1904 - The graveyard is the final resting place of Dr. Joseph Parry (1841-1903) who wrote the male voice choir favourite song 'Myfanwy' and the hymn 'Aberystwyth'. He also accredited with writing the first Welsh opera 'Blodwyn', it is, therefore, easy to imagine why a postcard dating from the year his death would be a popular item for the holidaymaker to send to friends and family!
