CHORUS,

Oh pretty Penarth in little Welsh Wales,
Where the donkeys all kick
And the dogs wag their tails,
Where the ladies so charming stroll on the Pier,
And in gossip the latest from town you can hear,
Where there's boating and money and channel trip cruising,
And bashing, and mashing, and lots of sly boozing,
And teasing, and squeezing, and everything pleasing,
In pretty Penarth in Little Welsh Wales.

If you want a trip down channel, there's the favourite Lorna Doone,
Or the new Lady Margaret which you choose ;
For Bristol, charming Chepstow, Burham, or Ilfracombe.
Splendid pleasure sailings nobody should lose,
You can see some lovely pictures at Turner's gallery,
Should you have an artistic whim,
This will not cost you very much, in fact, it is free ;
And the Baths provide a jolly swim.

On lovely summer evenings, when the air is fresh and calm,
The sound of rippling wavelets you can hear,
As you languidly recline on your favourite masher's arm.
You enjoy a promenade along the pier.
You can listen to the concerts from seven to nine-fifteen,
Chose from operas to the latest wheeze,
And where the happy smiles of patrons can be seen,
Who drop a sixpence in the box if pleased.
