Volume Eight - Pre-Victorian to the present day - more aspects - To dredge the River Ely - 1860's

I beg to say that Mr Mitchell has almost completed his powerful Dredge Boat and is now in a position to enter into the proposed agreement with you to complete the Contract for the diversion of the River Ely.

Mr. Hardie's update and offer to the Board of the Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway Company reporting that the build of Mr. Mitchell's powerful dredging machine (referred to above as the Boat) is almost complete. His hand-writing has deteriorated noticeably again since his previous letter. The original of this letter is held at the National Archives. [142]
