William Henry Bartlett - 'Nash Sands Lighthouses'
William Henry Bartlett - 'Nash Sands Lighthouses' - Mr. Bartlett's (1809 - 1854) engraving of 1840 is titled 'Nass Sands Lighthouses (near Bristol) which of course should be Nash Point which is on the Welsh coast near Marcross. This happens to be one of my favourite places on the planet especially on a stormy winter evening, with the good wife by my side, parked in the warm on the cliffs nearby the lighthouses (preferably with the handbrake firmly on!). The view is wonderful at night and by day with the Devon coast on the opposite side of the Bristol Channel. The scene is constantly changing and there is an awful lot of sea and sky! I have a print of this work hanging in my home office and the original is held at National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion. The lower version has been colourised. [439]
