Tony Batey - 'Cardiff Bay 1956' - Isn't it amazing what you find when you move offices! I remember buying this print of Tony's work at Snell's the newsagents just below the Washington Cinema (The Wash'ouse) many years ago. It is number 497 of a limited edition of 850 prints of the marvelous work of a fine artist. It simply captures the excitement as the p.s. 'Cardiff Queen' steams away from the P. & A. Campbell's berth at Pier Head, Cardiff, sometime during the summer of 1956, calling at Penarth Pier en route, most probably, to Weston-super-Mare. Wonderful memories are returned of childhood day-trips on the Campbell's paddle steamers. The single funnel p.s. 'Glen Usk' appears to be just arriving. [402] [20190927]
