Sullivan, Jack - Paddle Steamer, Cardiff Queen 1964.

Sullivan, Jack - Paddle Steamer, Cardiff Queen 1964. My favourite P. & A. Campbell, White Funnel Fleet, paddler, moored at the Pier Head, Cardiff, chock-a-block with passengers. The next stop is at the Penarth Pier and then probably the mob are anticipating the trip across the Severn Sea, on this bright and sunny day, to the beach at Weston-super-Mare. This lovely artwork is held within the Museum of Cardiff and captures the excitement and expectations of those aboard.

The Museum situated at The Old Library on The Hayes, [1386] informs us that : 'Jack Sullivan was a police officer at Cardiff Docks in the 1940s and 50s. As he patrolled the docks, he sketched the daily scenes of work and community. Decades later, in the 1980s, he transformed those sketches into paintings.'
