Tom in less formal attire, working as a watchman on the Pamir in 1950.

In the spring of 1951, the Pamir and the Passat were eventually bought by Herr Heinz Schliwen for the German navy. They used them for cadet training. On September 21st 1957, the Pamir, outward bound from Buenos Aires to Hamburg, was lost in a storm. Out of a crew of 86 (mostly cadets), only 6 survived. The Passat is preserved at Travemuende, northern Germany, and is open to the public.

Tom Wallace inspecting the sails for damage by rats. Taken from pamir.chez-alice.fr by Phillippe. Is that a paraffin lamp in his hand?

Tom died in 1955.
