A lovely postcard view of the number one dock at Barry, South Wales in the 1890's or early 1900's. Sail dominates the scene with a fine four-master barque stage left. One of my favourite postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection it was posted in 1910 from Shepton Mallet to Bristol and begins 'Dear Dorothy - I am so sorry not to have written before' and was from her friend Winnie. An enlargement of the left section of the upper image showing the four-masted barque. Ahead of her is a steam-dredger with a number of men posing at the bow and the name can just be made out - 'David Davies'. [001]
