The Launch of the Barry Lifeboat - Barry Dock' - a postcard image with a date of posting in January 1909. The sender Philip Alexander writes to his mother in Bristol 'Will you send my bank book to the Seaman's Mission, Barry Dock. Shipping is very bad. Will stay at sailor's home but I haven't paid for a week board.'[001]
The Entrance & Landing Stage, Barry Dock - The landing stage is a pontoon with the ability to adjust to any state of tide. Here, a White Funnel steamer is moored at low water. I am unable to identify the steamer and date though - your assistance welcome as always! Another fine photograph from the Penarth Dock Collection plus a colourised version. [001]
