The Pier from Windsor Gardens, Penarth

The Pier from Windsor Gardens, Penarth - This postcard was addressed to a Miss Longville at Linskill Terrace, North Shields, Northumberland. Today it is part of Tyne and Wear and I was based south of the river as a Technical Manager of a chipboard processing company for a few years during the 1990's. I had responsibilities for health and safety at the plant, amongst my other duties. Now the Georgies are wonderful people but bringing in safety procedures where there were none before was a challenge. I think I won most of them over by giving them some heated refuges to comfort them on those long, cold, damp, winter nights working alongside the Tyne. [001]

The Beach and Sea Front, Penarth
The Beach and Sea Front, Penarth - A Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd. postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection with a fine view of the pier with its art deco pavilion. This card was posted from Penarth in the 1960's complete with a 3d stamp and the writer states 'Have been on the beach all day. Real lazy!' - Yep, a Thayer's ice cream and some sunshine would temp me right now! The lower image has been colourised. [001]

Penarth - A Judges Limited, Hastings, England postcard
Penarth - A Judges Limited, Hastings, England postcard
Penarth - A Judges Limited, Hastings, England postcard of the esplanade and pier at a Spring tide. The coal tips at Cardiff Docks are visible distant. On the esplanade road, traffic wardens are a fictional thing of the future as is congestion - those were the days! The card was posted in 1954 (2d stamp) from Betty who is having a nice time at Penarth. The lower image has been colourised. [001]
