Pier Head, Cardiff

Pier Head, Cardiff - as a yellow funnel paddle steamer departs. The yellow funneled paddle steamers of W. H. Tucker & Co. commenced operations in direct competition to P & A Campbell's White Funnel Fleet in 1919 but only lasted a few years until 1921. Since this postcard predates this period I can only assume that it is in fact a White Funnel steamer which has perhaps been incorrectly hand tinted by some ill-informed artist! This postcard, posted in August 1907, is from Maud of Clive Street, Grangetown, Cardiff to Miss Edie Ling of Albert Road, Silvertown and she comments that 'Baby is such a good little dear. I wish you could see her now.' [001]
