'No.3. View from the Pier, Penarth.' - A typical Wehrley ; a deserted pier, the grandeur of the Esplanade Hotel and the decorative features of the sea-water baths. I think George got out of his bed earlier than the gentry of Penarth in order to capture scenes like this one. The geometric straight lines of the wooden decking draw your eyes to the gates at the entrance to the pier.
Another fine example of George Wehrley's work and a postcard published by G. Wehrley & Co., 97 Glebe Street, Penarth, S. Wales.
This postcard image is from David Ings collection. David is author of the 2016 book entitled 'Penarth History Tour' as well as previous publications 'Penarth in old picture postcards' in 2 volumes - all of which are a good read! [654]
