'Werner Vinnen' - The four-masted barque under tow into Penarth complete with a colourised version of the George Wehrley postcard view. During the first decade of the 20th century the global commercial sailing industry was undergoing a sharp decline, Despite this fact the company's founder, F. Adolf Vinnen, invested in a fleet of large, steel-hulled, four-masted, sailing ships which often called at the South Wales ports invariably to collect a cargo of Welsh Steam Coal. Another of George Wehrley's fine maritime postcard views held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
