The following question was asked as recorded in the parliamentary debates (Hansard) official report on the subject of Staff Pay (Penarth) dated 9th July 1914:

Mr. Charles Duncan asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that officers of His Majesty's Customs and of the Board of Trade stationed in Penarth are given the same rates of pay as obtained in similar services in Cardiff ; and whether he will favourably consider the inclusion of the Penarth Post Office within the Cardiff area and the granting to the staff at that office scales of pay equal to those obtaining in the Cardiff Post Office?

In response Mr. Hobhouse stated : This matter is already under consideration. Inquiries are being made, and I will communicate with the hon. Member when they have been completed. [931] [499]
