'The 09:13 a.m. Penarth Town to Cardiff (Clarence Road) train, propelled by ex-GWR 0-6-0PT No. 6435, at Penarth Dock Station on 20th October, 1958.' Another from a fine book 'The Taff Vale Lines to Penarth'. [026] The need for Penarth Dock Station had decreased significantly since the dock closed in 1936 but it was retained by the GWR despite its close proximity to Cogan Station. The Beeching cuts of the 1960's, however, decided its fate and Cogan won as the preferred station for Cardiff commuters. The photo is credited to R. O. Tuck.

The train now loitering outside the ladies waiting room is the 09:13 for Cardiff, calling at Grangetown, Cardiff General and Cardiff Clarence Road . . . .!
