A section of the Penarth Dock and Harbour Property Plan which states that the lease for the Principality Wagon Company Limited commenced at Ferry Road on 3rd April 1924 for a term of 14 years. Handwritten above is a reference to a lease of 35 years from 25th December 1954 at a rate of £625 per annum, paid quarterly. The lease, it appears, was finally assigned in April 1971 to British Car Auctions. [252]
The London Gazette reported in June 1924 that the Principality Wagon Company Limited held an extraordinary general meeting in Cardiff during May when a special resolution was passed to 'reconstruct' the company. The old company was to liquidated and a new company named the Principality Wagon Company Limited be formed with the usual memorandum and articles of association. Yes - the old and new companies had the same name! The reason is not known. It was reported in July 1924 that the company was in fact in voluntary liquidation and that the liquidator passed an extraordinary resolution as to the disposal of the books, accounts and documents of the company.
