c.1905 - Commercial Dry Dock - Barry Docks
s.s Paenare in the c.1905 - Commercial Dry Dock - Barry Docks.

◊ c.1905 - Commercial Dry Dock - Barry Docks - A fine postcard view of the dry dock with the s.s. Penare under repair. The dry dock was owned by C. H. Bailey & Son during the mid to late 1960's subsequently becoming Bristol Channel Ship Repairers and Engineers Ltd. During the years c.1966 to 1969 I worked across the other side of Number one dock at Hodges Engineering and the Fownes Forge and we often undertook machining and other repair work on behalf of the company.

Incidentally, Penare is a place name in Cornwall and has a promontory nearby named Dodman Point. Dodman Point near Mevagissey is the highest headland at 374 feet on the south Cornwall coast. It is also known by its earlier names of the Deadman and Deadman's Point. [043] Another postcard heritage record from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180822]
