Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Nine - Pre-Victorian to the present day - even more aspects - More Moments Captured in Time . . .

The Lodge, Alexandra Park, Penarth.

◊ The Lodge, Alexandra Park, Penarth - The entrance to Alexandra Park adjacent to the Esplanade Hotel with its head park-keeper's house. I recall that as a child there was always a huge display of plants and flowers in, and outside, the greenhouse just visible in the photograph. The postcard has a postdate during September 1915 and states that Lil had the time of her today! Lucky girl!! A postcard record of, perhaps a few naughty, Moments Captured in Time from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180925]

War Memorial, Alexandra Park, Penarth.

◊ War Memorial, Alexandra Park, Penarth - The tablet was unveiled during November 1924 to commemorate those lost in the 1914 -18 First World War. Those lost in the Second World War (1939-45) and Korean War (1950-53) are also commemorated. Why it is was not used as the venue for the annual Armistice Day's Parade is not known. A postcard reminder of a Moment Captured in Time from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180925]

In the Park, Penarth.

◊ In the Park, Penarth - A Valentine's Series postcard probably dating from around the turn of the century. A summer afternoon in the park with ladies of the town in all their finery. Another fine heritage postcard and a Moment Captured in Time from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180925]
