Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Nine - Pre-Victorian to the present day - even more aspects - More Moments Captured in Time . . .

Penarth. New Pavilion.

◊ Penarth. New Pavilion - A Judges Limited of Hastings proof photograph of the new Art Deco Pavilion at the end of Penarth Pier. The pavilion was constructed using ferro-concrete and first opened during May 1929 so, I suggest that is photograph was taken shortly afterwards. The original photograph is a Moment Captured in Time and is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180928]

Penarth Guide 1969.

◊ Penarth Guide 1969 - An advertisement appeared within the guide for the claiming that the : Marina : The Ballroom by the Sea being Wales's Leading Social Club. My recollection was somewhat at odds with the statements made and I subsequently frequented the premises on one occasion only. The right-hand photograph from the same 1969 guide states that : 'The spectacular firework finale which crowns Penarth Holiday Week will be repeated this year on Saturday, 2nd August.' Another reminder of Penarth times past and a Moment Captured in Time from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180928]

Esplanade Gardens and Marina Pavilion, Penarth.

◊ Esplanade Gardens and Marina Pavilion, Penarth - 'Situated on the A4160 about six miles from Cardiff is the Bristol Channel resort of Penarth. The town has fine docks, beaches and pier from which pleasure steamers run in the season.' This postcard was published by Baxter & Crabtree of Prestatyn and was posted in Treorchy, Rhondda in September 1964. A fine postcard reminder and another Moment Captured in Time from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20180928]
