Daniel Owen & Co's. (Wright's) Cardiff Directory of 1887 provides a list of officers of the Board of Trade, Mercantile Marine Offices for the South Wales District at Bute Place, Bute Docks, Cardiff. The Chief Superintendent for Mercantile Marine was stationed at these offices and had responsibilities for the Newport, Cardiff and Penarth districts. [298]
