A section of the GWR Penarth Dock and Tidal Harbour Property Plan of 1928.

A section of the GWR Penarth Dock and Tidal Harbour Property Plan of 1928. The Custom House is clearly labeled ; the Mercantile Dock Office is not ; the Marine Hotel site is now leased under reference number 51. The old Marine Hotel public house is still shown annexed to the end of the building but probably closed to business following the sale by auction of the 'entire contents' by the landlord Messrs. William Hancock & Co., Ltd. in August 1917. It remained on the accounts ledger of the TVR until 1921 when it became the property of the GWR under the 'Grouping Act', i.e. the Railways Act 1921.

The GWR plan above was issued in October 1928 and updated to August 1933. In the Schedule of Leases under reference 51 the Lessee is Messrs. S. A. H. Noel & Co. and the Term is 9½ years from 25th December 1923. [252] [Wiltshire & Swindon Archive Ref: 2515/250/429]
