1969 - Penarth Dock Basin
• 1969 - An enlargement of a postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection showing a view across the basin toward the Custom House with the Mercantile Marine Office building beyond. The basin was used as a tidal marina at this time, the Custom House as a club and the Mercantile Marine Offices had long been converted into private apartments. [001]

• c.1969 - Two aerial views of the Penarth Dock with basin and entrance lying under the lee of the Penarth Head.

In the upper photograph, distant is the beach and pier. The Customs House and Mercantile Marine Offices are clear. The Ely subway entrance building has been demolished at this time.

These photographs were kindly supplied by Vilis at the Penarth Framing Services. Vilis used to live nearby and go the dock to play with his mates as a young boy so he has a keen interest in its history and heritage. Thank you Villis for your support of the Penarth Dock story. [113]
