Mercantile Marine Office Building (and Customs House) at Penarth Dock entrance
• 2017 - A Google Earth view of the Mercantile Marine Office Building (and Customs House) at Penarth Dock entrance. Note the original roof extension at the seaward end is still in place whereas I believe the roof extension at the opposite end was removed because it became unstable. The Customs House looks fantastic and it would be wonderful if the Marine Office could be saved and restored but, alas, perhaps time is running out to rescue the old lady. Mr. James Poole, chairman of the Taff Vale Railway Company stated at the opening ceremony of the Penarth Dock in June 1865, when Baroness Windsor, Lady Windsor Clive, and the Hon. Hebert Windsor Olive failed to attend ; 'Time and tide wait for no man'. In May 2017 the roof extension collapsed without warning. [110]
