a Cefn-y-Wrâch hag

But on the return journey whilst passing Cefn-y-Wrâch it was a different matter ; the adorable creature had vanished and in her place a vision. I hid my eyes from this old hag who had a hunched-back, a tench's scaly, slimy, backside and straw-like hair ; just sitting there as large as life she was in the mud.

There was also a strong aroma of rotting fish and suddenly a green mist appeared and swirled around her as the skies darkened.

Julie, however, was as always fearless, and continued to sketch. The sight nearly made me choke on my pint of Brains Red Dragon, I tell you! [124]
