Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Nine - Pre-Victorian to the present day - even more aspects - Cefn-y-Wrâch . . .

A photograph borrowed from Peter J. Stuckley's excellent book 'The Sailing Pilots of the Bristol Channel' which shows 'Some of the Cardiff fleet in its heyday around 1900, possibly assembled for review Day. [courtesy Graham Brooks, whose grandfather, Thomas Herbert Brooks, owned and worked cutter no. 13, the EVB shown fifth from right].' [475]

According to the Friends of Cathay's Cemetery [604] website Thomas, Herbert Brooks was a Cardiff Pilot in the years 1878 to 1891. So possibly the photograph above was taken earlier than 1900.

Below is the entire entry for the Cardiff Pilotage Board as published within the Webster's Directory of Bristol & Glamorganshire of 1865. [621] [623]
