1920's? - Dredging the Mud Cut and the Entrance Channel to Penarth Dock. The end of the south pier (or jetty!) of the entrance to Penarth Dock, with the Mercantile Marine Offices beyond, can clearly be seen on the right. On the left beyond the Penarth Head, a searchlight platform is visible and in the mist is the end of Penarth Pier. Obviously, dredging the shipping lanes to Cardiff Docks, Penarth Dock and the River Ely Tidal Harbour were routine operations. The lower image has been colourised. [000] [002]
