Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

about . . .

Volume Eight - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - Even more aspects - More Moments Captured in Time . . .

The photographs, documents and postcards held within the Penarth Dock Collection have been collated by myself over many years and serve to remind me of my early years in South Wales. Please do not forget that the fine buildings and gardens of Penarth and many of the other localities featured within these heritage documents evolved directly, in most cases, out of the trade in coal emanating from the South Wales collieries. They were hard times for those involved in the day to day toil and we should be thankful to them all for the benefits we take for granted today. I hope you enjoy yet another peek inside my albums.

• Barry Dock - The Dock Entrance - One of those timeless images of working boats and a calm sea.

• Newport, Transporter Bridge - A lovely postcard view and a report on the opening ceremony.

• Pier. Penarth - A lovely postcard view of the fine pier taken in the first few years of the twentieth century ; complete with azure seawater!
