The Linnet was a 928 ton net, wooden brigantraine, built in 1878 at Nova Scotia. The vessel was owned by J. D. Morine (who was also the master) of Maitland, Nova Scotia. She had loaded a cargo of coal and was on a voyage to Rio de Janiero when she ran aground and foundered off Penarth Head on 28th March 1894. [760]
