'Distant view of Penarth Docks'

'Distant view of Penarth Docks' - Another postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection which has been hand-coloured in which the 'Explosives Pier' is clearly visible. The date - Simple my Dear Watson! The four tips in the basin (installed 1899-1900) are present but only tip number 19 in the main dock is present, hence number 20 is yet to be constructed (or vice versa). The date of this photograph can only be from the period, say, late 1904 to 1905. [001]

Explosives Pier- Penarth Dock.

I believe this landing pier with the onlookers is the former 'Explosives Pier' and in the distance is the gridiron and slipway of the Penarth Pontoon and Slipway Company Limited. The photograph is from the Penarth Dock Collection. This enlargement has been colourised. [001]
