Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy

The searchlight projector at Fort Dunree, Donegal, Ireland, below, and left, a side elevation drawing of the Projector Mark III of 1902. [1126]

The Fort Dunree searchlight bears the makers name Steven Bros. Ltd. of London and was manufactured in 1899. Many thanks to David from the Fort Dunree Museum for his assistance in this respect. [1139]

The London address for Steven Bros. Ltd. was Upper Thames Street, E.C., but the company was also involved in a large iron foundry named McDowall, Steven & Co., Iron-founders and Iron Merchants of the Milton Iron Works, Glasgow.

I believe this searchlight or rather, this Emplacement Defence Electric Light (DEL), is similar to, or perhaps identical to those installed below Penarth Head during 1917.
